What I love: My 11-year-old daughter is reading instead of playing on her iPhone! We bought a copy for her friend, who got her copy in the mail first. Each day, her friend would tell my daughter about some of the chapters. My daughter came home to check the mail for her copy every day and when it finally arrived, she immediately sat down and read several chapters. From Simone Biles and Amelia Earhart to Cleopatra and Malala Yousafzai, there is such a wide variety of women featured in this book! Not everyone will agree with their choices (one woman was a pirate and there are some political figures), but the writing and illustrations are great in terms of introducing girls to brave girls and women.
What I would change: The book is expensive‑$35 plus shipping if you don’t have Amazon Prime. It’s worth the cost, but it’s disappointing that it can’t get in the hands of more girls because of the cost.
