LearningRx Reviews One More Story Website

What it is: One More Story is a subscription-based online library of the best children’s illustrated books set to music and read aloud to children. (There’s also an “I Can Read It” mode for kids who want to read to themselves.) The site launched in 2005 and has won countless awards from organizations like School Library Journal, Parents’ Choice and Teachers’ Choice.
Brain Benefits: sound blending, segmenting, visual processing, attention, word attack
What I love: Although reading to your child is ideal, it’s not realistically always an option. Sometimes you just need a service like One More Story to keep your little one occupied for a few minutes so you can take a shower, wash the dishes or doze off for 10 minutes. I used this for my kids when they were younger and it was great! There’s even a Click-to-Hear option for words that kids don’t know when they’re in the “I Can Read It” mode. I love that you can access your books from anywhere in the world and that the subscriptions come in varying lengths so you can try three months if you’re not ready to commit to six months or a whole year. The words are highlighted as they’re read, and kids can click to turn the pages or have the pages turn on their own.
What I’d change: I’d love to a category for multicultural books.
